The takeover of Sunderland is currently edging closer following the consortium in talks with the League One club registered a brand new business .
“FPP Sunderland Ltd” was lodged on Monday as a vehicle to facilitate the proposed takeover from MSD Parners LP, a New York City-based investment company that manages the funds of computer magnate Michael Dell and loved ones.
Together with Dell a passive, property investor, Robert Platek, John Phelan and trio Glenn Fuhrman will be the club’s hands owners.
Even though they’re aware this will take time their long term plan is to return Sunderland to the Premier League.
Current owner Stewart Donald, that has been for 16 weeks at the helm, will keep a stake at the club and he and Charlie Methven will remain integral to its operations.
Donald, who purchased the League One team for just #40m, said last month that the agreement is”hugely exciting”.
“We have got a preferred partner, somebody that we think can really do what we’ve talked about doing and come with us to take the club into the next level,” he explained.
“I hope that we can find the deal within the line because I believe that it’s a hugely exciting bargain for all the perfect reasons.”
A deal to sell the club to another US-businessman, Mark Campbell fell through in July.
Sunderland are fourth at Sky Bet League One with a defeat, three draws and four wins in their introduction eight games.
